Introducing Mercury Spend

A new era of expense management has arrived. With Mercury Spend, you can keep scaling without losing control of your spend. Issue cards to your team (and agents) with funds allocated through specific budgets, policies that enforce themselves, and automatic receipt collection via inbox scanning, text, or photo upload.

Automatically match receipts from Gmail to card transactions

Turn receipt collection into a background task.

Mercury’s per-payment approvals interface showing a rule that requires approval from a department lead.

Refined approval controls

As your team grows, having the right people involved in per-payment approvals matters even more. Turning on separation of duties prevents self-approvals and ensures every payment is reviewed by someone other than the requester. You can now add any user or department lead to your approval workflow. Adding department leads as first approvers helps filter declined requests for your finance team or other admins.

Custom roles for how your business works

No two businesses are the same, but banking has traditionally locked you into a one-size-fits-all approach to roles and permissions. With Mercury, you can now create and reuse custom roles to fine-tune exactly what your team can access and what actions they can take. We’ve also added a new Approvals permission so teammates who aren’t full admins can approve payments and reduce bottlenecks.

Watch receipts file themselves

You can now create Gmail rules to auto-forward merchant emails to receipts@mercury.com, and we’ll match them to the right transactions — no manual upload required. And if you want to save even more time, turn on global matching to automatically attach receipts to any transaction you have access to, including your team’s card spend.

Let employees code their own transactions

Does your crew ever forget to categorize their spend? Now you can require categories on transactions just like you can with receipts. We'll even automatically nudge your team to code their expenses, giving you more detailed data on how and where spend is happening.

Initiating reimbursements from your inbox

Now you can submit expenses for reimbursement directly from your inbox by emailing receipts to reimbursements@mercury.com. We’ll automatically extract amounts, merchants, and dates — then send you a link to review and submit in your Mercury account.

No third-party apps. No photos to upload. Just send us your receipts, and most of your work is done.
